Lisa W. Nagel

Lisa Wootton Nagel grew up in American Fork, Utah and comes from a family of lawyers who go back more than 130 years and four generations in Utah. Lisa attended the University of Utah as an undergraduate and obtained her law degree at Gonzaga University School of Law in Spokane, Washington. Lisa has been practicing law in Salt Lake City since 1995. Her work has included representation of clients in all aspects of domestic and family law including Divorce and Custody matters, DCFS, Juvenile Court, Protective Orders, and Private Guardian ad Litem representation. Lisa also brings with her a background in estate planning, property and natural resources law.  

Lisa previously worked for Utah Legal Services in their domestic task force unit. While there she managed hundreds of cases involving protective orders and high conflict divorces. Lisa also worked as an Assistant Attorney General in the Child Protection Division representing DCFS for twelve years. In this position, she worked to adjudicate several hundreds of cases of abuse, neglect, dependency and terminations of parental rights. This experience gave Lisa many depths of knowledge about these systems and how they operate. Having worked extensively in the child welfare system and as a private Guardian ad Litem, Lisa has dedicated much of her career to fighting for the rights of children in Utah, their parents and families.

In her off hours, Lisa likes mixed-media art, writing and travel. In 2013 she obtained a Master’s Degree in Creative Writing and Writing for the Performing Arts from the University of California at Riverside. Lisa also enjoys skiing, kayaking and playing pickleball.

Lisa is licensed to practice in both Utah and California.
