Cameron Van Tassell
Cameron Van Tassell, JD

Meet Cameron Van Tassell, JD
Cameron has a diverse range of legal experience that spans civil, criminal, regulatory and public interest sectors from New York to the Republic of Palau. Much of Cameron’s experience involves civil litigation. Cameron’s civil experience ranges from wrongful evictions to environmental litigation to complex civil cases involving multi-billion-dollar financial disputes. Cameron’s service as a Deputy District Attorney provides him insight into domestic violence and other criminal situations that can arise in family law cases. Cameron also spent several years providing legal services including guardianships, housing and domestic violence protections to low-income clients. Finally, Cameron had the unique opportunity to serve as Counsel to the President of the Republic of Palau where he advised on a variety of matters including negotiations for a utility scale solar project and served as the Executive Director of the Palauan agency responsible for regulating inward foreign direct investment.
Cameron is currently licensed in California and New York and expects to take the Utah bar in February 2022.
Cameron graduated with honors from Columbia Law School in 2009 where he also earned a certificate from the Parker School of International Law. Prior to attending law school, Cameron earned a master’s degree in international affairs from the University of California San Diego. As an undergraduate, Cameron played volleyball for the NCAA Div. I national champion BYU men’s volleyball team.
Cameron’s personal interests are as diverse as his professional experience. Lately, Cameron has been spending much of his free time exploring trails in the Wasatch and learning to play ice hockey. Cameron also enjoys making mischief in his garage whether it be ill-advised mechanical repairs or ill-conceived sculptural experimentation. When opportunity presents, Cameron enjoys rock climbing, roller skating, surfing, freediving.
